Introduction

National Cell bank of Iran (NCBI) affiliated to Pasteur Institute of Iran was established in 1993 with the purpose of centralized collection and storage of human and animal cell lines required by Iranian researchers, as well as promoting the advancement of cellular and molecular sciences and technologies particularly biotechnology in the country. This is a national non-profit organization aiming at providing cell-related services to research centers and universities in  Iran.

 

 

 

 
 

Major Activities

v     Production and collection of human and animal cell lines from normal and malignant tissues.

v     Distribution of cell lines to resume centers and universities upon request.

v     Quality control and authentication of cell lines.

v     Detection and eradication of cell culture microbial contaminants.

v     Preparation of identity cards and database for stored cell lines.

v     Provision of technical help and consultancy to the scientific community .

v     Provision of practical workshops and training services.

v     Deposition of cell lines produced in Iran for the purpose of patent procedure.
